State Convention in Marfa, TX - June 8-10
(Have consensus to proceed) Jane can no longer be the contact. Art Browning will be the contact person with Saarin (Marfa Chamber of Commerce). Sherri, Megan and Christine will help Art. We have reserved a hall for the weekend ($225). It has kitchen facilities, chairs and tables. It does not have a PA system. Question - do we have access to the hall in the evening? One hotel is booked with TxDOT employees doing road work. There will be accommodations for some folks with local families. There are a few restaurants, but their hours might not be regular. Groceries need to be brought from Alpine or farther away. Davis Mtn State Park is near-by.
Suggestions -
- rent a couple of hotel rooms (suites?) for a central gathering place.
- Art delegate to others (food, transportation, lodging, program, registration) but Art should be the one contact with C of C.
- rent buses (vans) or car-pool
- discuss strategy (use state convention as a kick-off for ballot access, 2008)
Budget - No objections to budget as last proposed by Christine/Kay
Will keep in format separating normal annual expenses from credit card fraud and 2006 heldover expenses
Will not include fundraising line item because we have no realistic idea if that will happen (or how much)
Michael requested information about expenses in past years, especially election years.
Agreed to stay with iTransact & Compass Merchant for the short-term because of need of information to reverse charges (with no fee). Delay consideration of legal action. Michael proposed getting professional advice.
Agreed to put the subscription web form back up now that security is tightened. (Might need work on the form to get the info required, CCV and zip)
Fundraising - discussion postponed
Newsletter - Michael Grant is planning a Green newsletter, tentatively titled Future Focus. Has talked to several folks about it. Requests those who are interested to contact him correoverde@gmail.com and let him know how they want to help out. (Writing, editing, layout, distribution, getting volunteers, etc) Michael expects it to cost $600-$700 per issue, thinking about quarterly publication. Hopes to concentrate on the positives - where progressives have made a difference. great place to capture positions of politicians on issues related to Green 10KValues.
SomerFest - Oct 27 in Somerville, TX
Radical Encuentro - outside Austin, Mar 2-3, website radicalencuentro.org; this year's theme, coal plants and global warming
Progressive Alliance in San Antonio, March 10, Keynote Speaker - Dennis Kucinich, Green table? Art will contact Kat to see if Bexar Greens are interested. Art and Sherri might attend. Check PAA website for more information.
Pre-registration for TX slots at ANM in Reading, PA (July 12-15) - Doug will handle as txgreen1-txgreen5 (or through txgreen7)
