Over a thousand Greens from all over the world gathered in Chicago on July 10th-13th for the 2008 U.S. Green Party's National Nominating Convention.

Details can soon be found at http://www.greenparty2008.org/wiki/index.php/Home.

On Thursday and Friday, delegates came together in workshops to learn from one another. On Saturday, a National Party Platform was discussed, but it was tabled; this means the national Green Party platform is unchanged from the current version.

On Saturday afternoon the National Nominating Convention selected the Green Party's Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates for 2008. Our Presidential nominee is Cynthia McKinney, a former 6-term former US Representative from Georgia who has been fighting for peace and against Government intrusion since she was a Democrat representing Georgia's 4th Congressional District, east of Atlanta. Our Vice-Presidential nominee is Rosa Clemente, a community organizer, independent journalist, and hip-hop activist. She is quoted in the Black Agenda Report as saying:

"I don't see the Green Party as an alternative.
I see it as an imperative."
