NOTES from SEC Conference Call on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 8:00 PM.
Present: Douglas Reber, Art Browning, Sheri Allen-Wright, Michael Grant,
Don Cook (first half).
Approved agenda.
Douglas described flyering efforts at ACL fest in Austin. Distributed
some 800 or so leaflets; no response. Don said this should be considered
the first of seven outreach efforts; seventh gets results, first raises
awareness.
Ballot Access: Douglas talked about letter to Texas Secretary of State
and follow up contacts about online petition signatures. Looks good. Don
asked about openness and making the issue more public. Douglas told
about how working from inside the system first may get more positive
results.
Don discussed fundraising, and said that he has raised $250 so far
selling raffle tickets for the beach house weekends. This effort seems
good, and we need to look into legal issues, perhaps. Someone said that
they would find out about it.
We digressed somewhat into some talk about the Treasurer transition (Kay
is off, DGW is on, but needs to become official). The Compass merchant
account is closed, by Douglas.
Don brought up that Adam J had sent us an e-mail about a physical
mail-out in Dallas, and we talked about whether to call people on the
database first, or send them mail first, and the dollars and sense
issues around that.
Don asked if Bill Holloway had gotten in touch with a for-pay signature
gathering company, and we talked about the efficacy of such and effort.
Some discussion about verification of signatures ensued.
