CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM
The Green Party of Texas accepts campaign contributions only from individuals. No corporate or PAC money is accepted. We support full public financing of all political elections. All parties should be granted free, equal access to the media.
Delay and water down reform while raking in millions from corporate interests
HEALTH CARE REFORM

"Not a primary concern of the Federal Government"
Support piecemeal reforms, but no fundamental overhaul of wasteful for-profit system that leaves 45 million people uninsured
"FREE TRADE" AGREEMENTS (NAFTA, ETC.)
Opposed. We favor fair Trade, making worker rights, the environment, democratic sovreignty, and mutual prosperity the priorities. We oppose trade agreements negotiated in secret, which create administrative bureaucracies run by corporate interests that are unaccountable to public input and legal challenges.
Supoort: Put corporate priorities on "Fast Track"
Clinton and Gore were architects. Some Congressional Democrats opposed; others helped pass "Fast Track"
DEATH PENALTY
We call for the abolition of the death penalty. The criminal justice system in TX is clearly biased against the poor, minorities, and people with mental disabilities. Innocent people have been put to death.

"WAR ON DRUGS"
Stop the costly 'war on drugs.' Shift focus to treatment, prevention, and addressing the causes of drug abuse: poverty, unemployment, racism, hopelessness, and alienation.
Continue past policies
AFFIRMATIVE ACTION
We support affirmative action to overcome the aftereffects of 500 years of racial discrimination in the us. We call for a public discourse on reparations for us slavery; the inequalities of history do not simply disappear.

GUN CONTROL
Legislation and policies that subject firearms to the same health and safety regulations as virtually all other consumer products sold in america. Criminal background checks per brady law on all secondary firearm sales.
"We...reject...any mechanism to process, license, record, register, or monitor the ownership of guns"
"Keep handguns and other weapons away from children."
WELFARE

Cut corporate welfare. Small businesses are Texas' great strength; our tax policy should encourage small and socially responsible businesses.

GAY / LESBIAN / BI / TRANS-GENDER (GLBT) RIGHTS
We support the rights of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgendered persons to be free from discrimination in housing, jobs, child custody, and adoption. Same-sex civil marriage with rights and benefits granted heterosexuals.
"Homosexual behavior is contrary to the fundamental, unchanging truths that have been ordained by God"
No mention in 2000 Platform, modestly supportive but conflicted over adoption, child custody, same-sex civil marriage
